Why Strategic Planning is vital for your business?
It’s a big question and one that takes time to answer; one that takes us on a journey with the questioner, initially taking us away from the point. Before we talk about what Strategic Planning is, allow me to share a story with you of ‘why’ strategic planning is vital. I wonder if this resonates.
I recently had my bathroom completely refitted – he is unusual, a plumber that lets me know what time he is coming, turns up, and is the cleanest workman I have ever experienced. He is a true craftsman, has never been employed, started his own business at 16 and has never worked as a wage slave for a boss.
He also NEVER works ‘ON’ his business. Sound familiar?
Being a business owner can be a lonely place; it’s tough at the top, and there is only one of you. There is no sounding board! If you have a team, you cannot ‘whinge and moan’ to them. It devalues everything you have created, and the people relying on you to pay their rents and mortgages could perceive this as weak, right? You need someone to work with, someone you can bounce ideas off, someone to let off steam with.

…a fantastic way to get ‘sold to’ for 2 hours, whilst getting a little more rotund, and making the most of a brilliant distraction! Don’t get me wrong, networking is a fantastic platform for business growth, and I am loving the diverse range of people we meet and do business with that we would never have met without it,
Can networking offer the shoulder that business owners need?
Not very often.
